David Cook

Chief Executive Officer

A Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, David has over 30 years’ experience in the property and charitable sectors. After working in a commercial property company, he has spent most of his career in the charity sector, specialising in capital projects for cultural, community and social enterprise uses. David is also an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland and a previous winner of the Ernst & Young Scottish Social Entrepreneur of the Year award.  He is currently Co-Chair of the Glasgow Built Heritage Commission.

Niall Gallacher

Project Development Manager

Niall has been part of the Glasgow Building Preservation Trust team since 2014. With a background in architecture and a Master’s in Architectural Conservation he has a breadth of experience planning, developing, and delivering heritage regeneration projects ranging in value from £300,000 to £10m. At GBPT, he leads on all aspects of project management, from initial feasibility through fundraising and legal agreements to construction and handover. As well as delivering capital projects, he undertakes consultancy projects in partnership with community groups and third sector organisations.

Ingrid Shearer

Heritage Engagement Manager

Ingrid joined GBPT in 2019 to deliver the heritage engagement programme for the West Boathouse project. She has a background in archaeology and over twenty years experience in community heritage, audience development, activity planning and interpretation. Understanding audience needs, motivations, and expectations lies at the heart of her work and underpins her approach to delivering meaningful outcomes. She is a member of the Association for Heritage Interpretation, a member of the Working Group on Historical Care Records, a trustee of the Clyde River Foundation and has contributed to several national heritage policies, including the National Sporting Heritage Strategy (2020) and Historic Environment Scotland ‘Archaeological Learning – the benefit and impact of archaeology Strategy (2018).

Yvonne Caddell

Festival Manager

Yvonne has over 12 years’ experience in festival programming, creative learning and audience engagement across Scotland’s heritage, education, and cultural sectors. She has a passion for the collaboration that comes with festival work and enjoys leading on projects from concept through to delivery. She has successfully designed and delivered innovative learning and engagement programmes in partnership with schools, communities, and third and public sector organisations. Yvonne holds a PGCert in Learning & Teaching in Arts Education and a BA in Dramatic Arts from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Daniel Brown

Project Development Officer

An ARB‑chartered architect and graduate of the Glasgow School of Art’s Mackintosh School of Architecture, Dan also holds a master’s degree in Construction Law and has extensive experience of delivering award‑winning capital projects, including the restoration and retrofit of notable historic buildings. He has managed projects through all stages of the RIBA Plan of Work, with a variety of client and contract types, and has delivered schemes from £10k to £35m in value. He was appointed by GBPT through the Architectural Heritage Fund’s Heritage Development Trust programme to focus on buildings at risk in the Glasgow City Centre Conservation Area.

Joe Robins

Marketing & Audience Development Officer 

A Marketing and Communications specialist with a passion for designing and delivering engaging campaigns and four years of experience working across a range of cultural and heritage organisations. Joe has been part of the GBPT team for two years.

Maeve O’Boyle

Office Administrator

Maeve graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a first-class honours degree in History of Art and English Literature. Before joining GBPT, Maeve worked in a variety of arts, heritage, and sustainability roles, including Commercial Officer for Dovecot Studios and Net Zero Coordinator for the Theatre Royal and King’s Theatre.

Our Board

The GBPT Board is made up of twelve Directors, including two Directors nominated by Glasgow City Council, all of whom give their time voluntarily to support the Trust’s work. Collectively, the Board brings a broad range of expertise spanning heritage, community engagement, architecture, planning, law, governance and finance.

Dr Andrew Agapiou

Dr Andrew Agapiou is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde with an academic background in construction law and over 25 years’ experience in the property and construction sectors. Alongside his academic role, he works as an industry practitioner, supporting clients to manage and resolve disputes as a Certified Mediator, specialising in property and construction mediation. He currently provides consultancy services to a range of Scottish property companies, advising on legal and regulatory compliance policies and procedures. His expertise in contract law and dispute resolution supports GBPT in scrutinising contractual aspects of development projects. Andrew has been an Elected Director of the GBPT Board since 2020.

Jana Bartschova

Jana is a Chartered Building Surveyor with a background in arts, culture, and commercial refurbishment, specialising in masterplanning feasibility, project management, and building surveying. She is currently part of Turner & Townsend’s Project Management team, leading the delivery of several heritage projects across Scotland’s Central Belt. Previously based in London, Jana worked on a wide range of public and private sector projects, including for the V&A and BFI. Her strong understanding of architecture, conservation, design, and the full project lifecycle enables her to support the Trust across all stages of construction, anticipating and mitigating potential issues. Jana was Co-opted to the Board in October 2023.

Dr Hanneke Booij

Hanneke Booij is an interdisciplinary heritage scholar currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Stirling in collaboration with Glasgow Building Preservation Trust. Her doctoral and previous MSc research give her strong insight into the Scottish heritage sector, including its opportunities and challenges. Her work focuses on how small heritage organisations balance socially engaged and environmentally oriented practices with economic viability. Hanneke teaches postgraduate courses on Heritage Futures, Sustainability, and Resilience at the University of Stirling. Before entering academia, she spent 10 years working in HR Management and Occupational Health in the Netherlands. She joined the board as a co-opted member in October 2023.

Cllr Chris Cunningham

Chris Cunningham is City Convener for Health, Care and Caring and Older People at Glasgow City Council. First elected as an SNP councillor for the Garscadden/Scotstounhill ward in 2016, he was re-elected in 2022 and previously served as City Convener for Education, Skills and Early Years. Chris has over 35 years’ professional experience in housing, including a long career with Shettleston Housing Association, where he became Director in 1989. He has also chaired the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and supported the establishment of Glasgow Housing Association. Chris has been a GCC-nominated Director of GBPT since 2017.

Liz Davidson OBE Hon FRIAS

During her leadership of GBPT in the 1990s, Liz Davidson delivered the first Doors Open Days event and key projects including St Andrew’s Square Church, the Tobacco Merchants House and the iconic ‘Tardis’ police boxes. She went on to establish and deliver the Merchant City Townscape Heritage Initiative and the Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme. Liz later became Head of Heritage and Design at Glasgow City Council, Senior Project Manager at the Glasgow School of Art, and is currently Project Director for the National Trust for Scotland at the Hill House. She has held trustee roles with major heritage bodies and received an OBE in 2010. Liz has been an Elected Director since 2020.

Scott Donohoe

Scott Donohoe is currently a Branch Officer for UNISON Glasgow City Branch; Health & Safety officer and Depute Branch Secretary, also dealing with employment law & industrial relations.  Scott is the current Chairperson of our Scottish Health & Safety Committee helping to drive forward the union’s issues and campaigns at National level.  Scott first joined the GBPT Board as the Scottish Trades Union Congress’ nominated director. Scott is also Trustee & Chair of a leading Health & Safety charity, Scottish Hazards, and a Board member of the Carbeth Hutters Community Company. Scott was Elected to the board in 2020.

Claire Martin

Claire is a marketing and communications professional with extensive experience in events and external engagement. She is currently Marketing and Communications Lead for the College of Social Sciences at the University of Glasgow, working with academics to promote research and engage external audiences. Previously, she held events and communications roles within building and heritage organisations, including the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence, the UK Green Building Council and the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, fostering a strong interest in architecture and conservation. Claire holds an MA (Hons) in Modern History from the University of St Andrews and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. She was appointed an Elected Director in October 2023.

Cllr Jon Molyneux

Jon is a councillor for the Pollokshields ward, representing the Scottish Green Party, having been first elected in 2017. He is the co-leader of the Green group on the council and the leader of the Green group within COSLA. He holds a number of committee roles and is his group’s Finance spokesperson. Jon also works part-time for the charity FareShare, which works to rescue and redistribute surplus food. Jon was Head of Communications and Engagement with Zero Waste Scotland for around a decade prior to his election. He retains a strong interest in the circular economy and is a Trustee of Circular Communities Scotland, the national representative body for community recycling, reuse and repair organisations. He is a Council-nominated director, appointed to GBPT in December 2025.

Charlie Turner

Charlie was first appointed to the Board in 2020 and is passionate about bringing Glasgow’s historic buildings back into use for their communities. His involvement with GBPT dates back to 2007, when he led the restoration of Castlemilk Stables as a Trustee of Cassiltoun Trust, transforming the 1790 building into a successful community hub. Since joining the Board, Charlie has played a key leadership role, serving as Chair during the Covid pandemic and a period without a Staff Director. He currently serves as Vice-Chair and Company Secretary. His experience across charitable organisations, alongside CIPFA qualifications in corporate governance, has supported the modernisation of GBPT’s governance arrangements.

Jim Whyteside

Jim has been the National Trust for Scotland’s Head of Communications since 2010. Prior to this he was Head of Public Affairs at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Scotland’s largest health board; and before that he was the Policy and Marketing Manager of South Lanarkshire Council’s Community Resources Department. He previously held Marketing and business promotion roles with the Scottish Vocational Education Council, Lanarkshire Development Agency, the Scottish Development Agency and Locate in Scotland.  Jim is a history graduate of the University of Glasgow and is passionate about the fascinating stories of the City of Glasgow, its people, urban landscapes and enigmatic archaeological sites. He is a member of both the Chartered Institutes of Marketing and Public Relations. He is also a Board Member of Barrhead Housing Association.
