Glasgow Built Heritage Commission
Are you interested in the state of Glasgow’s built heritage? Do you want to know why so many of the city’s buildings are in a state of disuse? Are you wondering why the Council doesn’t simply fix them?
For answers to these questions and more, we invite you to join the first Annual Public Meeting of the Glasgow Built Heritage Commission, taking place on the evening of Tuesday 17 November at St George’s Tron Church.
The Glasgow Built Heritage Commission (GBHC) is a partnership between a cross-party group of Glasgow City Council elected members, Glasgow Building Preservation Trust, Glasgow City Heritage Trust and other heritage funders and stakeholders.
It aimsto explore solutions to the evolving and complex challenges facing the historic built environment in Glasgow, celebrate successes, champion built heritage in all its forms, complementing and extending the work of the council and the city’s heritage sector.
The meeting will feature a lineup drawn from GBHC members and partner organisations and will include two panel discussions: the first on Legal powers to protect historic buildings, and the second on Challenges for heritage building development.
There will be opportunities to ask questions at the end of each discussion as well as a general Q+A.
A full schedule and list of speakers will be announced in the leadup to the meeting.
